BREAKING: Senate passes bill granting LG financial autonomy

The Senate has granted Local Government Financial Autonomy bill. TheCornet learned that the passage of the bill will automatically abrogate the extant State Joint Local Government Accounts. It also means that federal allocation to local government areas would be paid directly into designated local government account.

There has been allegation of pilfering and abuse of local government funds by state governors.

Voting is still ongoing on the 68 constitution amendment bills in both houses of parliament.
