Bauchi pastor ‘battles for life’ as riotous Muslims unleash attack

Rampaging Muslims have attacked a yet-to-be-known pastor belonging to the Evangelical Church Winning Allin Bauchi state over alleged blasphemy.

The pastor, according to a report, is currently battling for his life, due to injuries he sustained.

The irate mob reportedly torched several properties in the riot that broke out at the Katangan area, Warji Local Government Area, in Bauchi state.

Details of the incident are sketchy at the time of filing this report.

A source said the disturbance was spinoff from the cold-blooded killing of Deborah Samuel over alleged blasphemy in Sokoto state

The source reportedly said: “What I learnt was that a Christian girl allegedly posted and commented on something on social media which has to do with the incident in Sokoto and that was how it started.

“The situation there is more than tension since many houses have been burnt down. But no life was lost, to the best of my knowledge.

“A shop which belongs to an ECWA Church in the area was also burnt down. And I learnt that the District Head of the area and the leaders are on top of the situation. The police have also been informed about it.”

Another anonymous source quoted in the said report stated that Christian youths resisted the rampaging Muslim youths when they attempted to burn down the church.

“In the process, one of the pastors of the ECWA church was seriously wounded; as I speak to you now, efforts are on to save his life.”

The Bauchi state government and the police are yet to issue official statements on the incident.
