Baby burnt to death in Lagos

A baby has been burnt to death after assailants razed the building he was during an attack that took place at Egan Oriomi, in the Otto Awori Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

A tussle for the traditional stool of the community is said to have triggered the attack.

A source allegedly said that some persons are disgruntled against the reigning traditional ruler, whom they said was not originally from the community.

The invaders shot sporadically and broke into people’s houses in the attack that lasted till midnight, the source said. It added that 10 members of the community had sustained gunshots injuries.

Benjamin Hundeyin, who speaks for the Lagos police command, confirmed the Friday night and the burning of the baby.

“They burnt houses and there was a baby found in the burnt houses. Some members of the community also sustained gunshot wounds,” Hundeyin said.
