Atiku shows up at presidential election court

Former Nigeria’s vice president Abubakar Atiku Thursday morning arrived at the ongoing court hearing of his petition against president-elect Bola Tinubu’s victory.

Atiku has asked the Presidential Elections Petition Court (PEPC) to declare him as the winner of the February 25 presidential election, or it orders a revote.

Atiku, in his petition, alleges an internal comprise of the servers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to favour the declared winner, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He alleges that Tinubu was not eligible to contest the election and that a US court had once indicted him for drugs.

Aside Atiku, Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), is also challenging Tinubu’s victory. Like Atiku, Obi claims to have won the election and he, equally, is asking that the INEC should either declare him the winner or order a revote. Obi, in addition, wants the court to bar Tinubu from taking part in the fresh election, should the court order one.
