APC moves to reconcile Sen. Bamidele, other aggrieved members in Ekiti

The Ekiti chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has launched a reconciliatory move towards pacifying aggrieved former governorship aspirants, including Senator Opeyemi Bamidele.

The party had a rancorous primary election recently, which saw Biodun Oyebanji emerging its governorship flagbearer.

Following a meeting held at the weekend, the Ekiti-APC decided to constitute a reconciliation committee ahead of the June 18 governorship poll.

The committee is headed by Deputy Governor Bisi Egbeyemi and has also former Abiodun Aluko and Prof. Modupe Adelabu, both of who were former deputy governors in the state. Other members of the committee are Prof. Bolaji Aluko and Hon. Bunmi Adelugba, who serves as its secretary.

The committee’s lone mandate is to unite the aggrieved aspirants, such as

Hon. Femi Bamisile, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi, and Kayode Ojo, Demola Popoola, Oluwasola Afolabi, and Dayo Adeyeye.

It is noteworthy that Adeyeye has decided to challenge the outcome of the primaries in court.

Meanwhile, the party has decided to stay action on a planned ‘thank you’ rally by the victorious candidate, Oyebanji. The rally was initially scheduled to hold on Monday.

A communique issued from the stakeholder’s meeting stated: “That the forthcoming election is not about Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji but about the good of our people and Ekiti State in general.

“Therefore, all party members must see the forthcoming election as their personal project and all hands must be on the deck.

“That the performance of the incumbent, Governor Kayode Fayemi is the impetus for the party’s campaign while marketing the party’s candidate, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for the general election with the promise to continue the present good work of Gov. Fayemi.”
