Osun CJ: Police teargas protesters

Police have tear gassed judiciary workers protesting against the chief judge of Osun State, Justice Adepele Ojo.

The police officers repelled the protesters from getting close to the embattled judge as she alight her car on Wednesday.

The protesters are members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

The workers’ grievances owe to the alleged high-handedness by Justice Adepele.

Gbenga Eludire, chairman, JUSUN, said, “Following the action of the police and attitude of the Chief Judge, I, Comrade Gbenga Eludire, hereby ordered that workers in the sector should withdraw their service till further notice.”

TheCornet had reported that the Osun State Government recently suspended Adepele from office.

The government said it acted on the state’s house of assembly’s recommendation that Justice Adepele should be step aside while it is probing some allegations levelled against her.

The National Judiciary Commission however rejected the action, saying only it has the prerogative to discipline an errant judicial officer.
