APC in quandary as party’s convention seems unlikely

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, appears confused about the possibility of it holding its convention, scheduled for February 26.

It is more so as President Muhammadu Buhari cancelled a meeting between him and governors of the APC-ruling states. Buhari, rather, jetted to Brussels to attend a European Union and African Union summit.

The failed meeting reportedly aimed at agreeing on specific candidates for various party offices.

The funding for the convention is another knotty issue for the APC, as governors are said to be unwilling to bankroll the event.

Indications from some of the governors have equally shown the convention might not hold as planned. Hope Uzodimma and Ben Ayade, both governors of Imo and Cross River told journalists the convention date were not sacrosanct.
