Alleged rapist remanded, another man held over fatal abortion

Abdalah Sanusi, a man alleged to have raped a 14-year-old, has landed in prison.

This followed the order of a magistrate’s court sitting in Kaduna State.

Police prosecutor Inspector Chidi Leo had told the court that the 28-year-old Abdalah visited the girl mother’s shop on November 30.

After procuring some provisions, Abdalah asked that his victim followed him home to get the money, as he had none on him.

But, “on getting there, he (the defendant) bolted his room door and raped her.” the prosecutor stated.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, did not take Abdalah’s plea. Rather, he ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison.

In another incident, the police in Akwa Ibom State, has arrested a man, Sunday George Sampson, for leading his girlfriend into having a fatal abortion.

Odiko MacDon, the spokesperson for the command, said that “the Nsit Ubium Division of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command” arrested the suspect.

“The suspect impregnated a 13-year-old girl and secretly procured an abortion for her and she died in the process.”
