Jealous man stabbed love rival, jailed
A man, Money Dalandi, has landed in prison following a Ondo state magistrate’s orderfor his remand.
According to report, Dalandi, who is a farm labourer, had stabbed his friend and love rival, Sunday Babaji in the chest while they both argued over a woman.
Danlandi committed the offence at Badokun Camp, Ode-Aye, in Okitipupa axis of Ondo state.
Dalandi, who had no counsel, was arraigned before the magistrate on a one-count charge of murder.
The prosecutor, Inspector Nelson Akintimehin, told the court that Danlandi committed the offence on May 9, 2022, at about 9pm.
According to the prosecution, the offence contravenes Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 2, Laws of Ondo State, 2016.
Danlandi pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him. But, having allegedly committed a capital offence which the magistrate court does not have jurisdiction over, Dalandi’s plea was not taken.
Akintimehin then prayed the court to remand the defendant at the correctional centre pending the advice of the the Director of Public Prosecutions on the case.
