Accused ex-minister Sirika, daughter get ₦100m bail

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, has granted a bail in the sum of ₦100m to a former aviation minister, Haidi Sirika, and Fatima, his daughter.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arraigned Sirika and his daughter on Wednesday for allegedly committing a fraud of ₦2.7billion.
The anti-graft agency alleged the former minister, who served in the cabinet of former president Muhammadu Buhari, abused his office. Sirika, reportedly, awarded contracts to his daughter and son-in-law, in contravention of relevant laws.
The body also accused him of fraud over his handling of the botched attempt to float a national carrier project. Although, Sirika had landed an aircraft in Nigeria, and painted in the country’s colour.
The project was afterall a hoax while the aircraft was returned to its original owners – Ethiopian Airlines.
