Why my talks with Peter Obi failed – Kwankwaso

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has revealed why his attempt at an alliance with Labour Party’s (LP) standard-bearer, Peter Obi, failed.

According to him, the frenzy around Obi and his party scuttled the possibility of “a comprise” between them.

He said, “On Labour Party, I was initially interested in working with them, but at that time, they were at peak of the media hype and we couldn’t reach a compromise.”

Kwankwaso also said that his party was the bigger side in the talks, and the one “commanding the support of the masses.”

He added that every leader, including President Muhammadu Buhari, is expected to face challenges in office but that as an “experienced politician” he would “do the right thing and resolve the problems”.

Promising to “unite the country”, Kwankwaso equally stated that as a president “Nigeria will not face insecurity, economic hardship and ASUU/Industrial strikes.”

“We want to bring everybody on board,” the NPP candidate pledged.

He urged President Buhari to “leave a legacy of free elections, as a serial victim of electoral fraud, and as the first beneficiary of free and fair elections in Nigeria.”
