8 dead, 41 hospitalised, 362 passengers onboard ill-fated train – Official
The fatal attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train claimed eight lives, left 29 injured, while 41 persons are hospitalised.
The Cornet had reported the Monday night terrorist attack on the train.
Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs information, Kaduna State Government, giving preliminary findings, said the train billed to ferry 398 persons had only 362 of them onboard.
“The passenger manifest does not include NRC staff and security officials who were on board.

“Investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the status of the passengers who were onboard the train and remain unaccounted for at the time of this update,” he said.
The state governor, Nasir El-Rufai on Tuesday led Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to visit the injured in the hospital.
It was the second attack by terrorists on the train service. On Monday, some terrorists had breached security at the Kaduna airport, firing into the runaway. But, soldiers reportedly repelled them and no casualty was recorded.
