Why we went for Portable’s arrest – Ogun Police

The police in Ogun state have stated the reason why operatives attempted to arrest controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, on Tuesday.

A video surfaced, in which the Zazzu singer was seen shirtless and resisted arrest.

He could be heard in the video saying an internet fraudster procured the operatives to get him arrested, a claim the police command denied.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the spokesperson for the Ogun Police command, reportedly said Portable was given 72 hours within which to report himself to the nearest police station.

Stating the singer’s offence, Oyeyemi said a studio artiste petitioned the police over an assault he suffered in the hands of the singer and his boys.

He said, “On receiving the petition from the police, an invitation letter was sent to him five times, but he refused to appear at the police station. Again, an invitation letter was sent to him through his father; he still did not come to the station.

“The police did not want a breakdown of law and order, so his arrest was to be effected on Tuesday, and now he started with all series of videos, saying all sorts of things. His father has been begging, but we have told him if he refused to turn himself in between now and Friday, he would be arrested.”
