Court rules Osinachi’s husband must answer for her death

A federal high court, Abuja, has ruled Peter Nwachukwu, the widow of late gospel singer, Osinachi, must answer for her murder.

The singer’s sudden death stirred allegation of serial domestic abuse by the husband during her lifetime.

Following the accusation, the federal government filed a lawsuit charge against Nwachukwu.

In his defence, Nwachuwu filed a no-case submission. The trial judge, in the latest ruling, rejected his plea.

Nwachukwu is currently at the Kuje correctional facility pending further hearing of the case.

The defendant, as claimed, maltreated his wife during her lifetime, took sole control of her finance, and restricted her movement.

Medical examination conducted on Osinachi identified as among causes of death “generalised organ pallor; bilateral leg swelling; fluid in the sac containing the heart; tumour deposits in and on the heart, lungs, kidneys; massively enlarged heart and fluid around the lungs which restrict breathing”.
